" Sea of Eyes " Acrylic Paint & Graphic Design 24"X40"
Sea of Eyes brings together three hand-painted faces, rendered in deep cobalt, sapphire and electric blue, over a mirrored background of the artist’s own brushstrokes. The faces overlap and cut into one another: a profile on the left, a face looking straight ahead in the center, and a half-turned face on the right. Four eyes are spread across them, and no two are alike. Each one has its own shape, its own gaze and its own catch of light.
Behind the faces, layered brushwork in lavender, ice blue and seafoam is mirrored into a pattern that moves like water. It’s a sea of paint for a sea of eyes. The original paintings were digitized and rebuilt with graphic design, turning existing art into something new. The palette stays in blue, except for the soft gray-whites of the brows and the sharp black of the pupils.
The title is a play on words. See and sea. It’s a work about how many ways one person can look at the world, and how many ways the world looks back.
The three faces can be read as three versions of one man. One looks away, one faces you directly, and one is half-turned, still deciding how much to reveal. The four different eyes suggest that no single view is the whole truth. We all carry many perspectives: the one we show, the one we hide, the one we use to judge ourselves, and the one we wish others would see. Like the sea behind them, these ways of seeing shift, overlap and never stay still.
The deep blue tones carry the stillness and weight of deep water. It’s a mood of reflection rather than sadness. The piece invites the viewer to notice which eye they meet first, and to ask which version of themselves they lead with.
Sea of Eyes is about being seen fully: every angle, every layer, every perspective at once.
